About

Hi there.  Thanks for visiting.  I’m a recently retired physics teacher of 33 years living in London, Ontario, Canada.  For the past 26 years, I taught at Medway High School, in Arva, just north of London, and at Strathroy DCI before that.  I have coached volleyball, badminton and golf, and was the school’s Senior Reach for the Top Team Advisor for most of my years there.  For much of that time I also served as the co-convenor of the London Regional Reach for the Top League.  I serve as the Financial Recording Secretary for St. Ansgar Lutheran Church in London, and I sit on the Board of Directors for Lutheran Independent Living London, which oversees the St. Ansgar Place apartment building. I have been a Pentax photographer since 1987, and my focus has largely been on landscapes, but more recently also on wildlife and agriculture.  As I headed toward retirement from teaching, I began to think seriously about professional photographic endeavours, which, among other things, has lead to this web site. I love technology and gadgets, and have a nearly insatiable desire for new toys.  I consider myself fortunate to have the photographic equipment that I have, two modern DSLR cameras made by Pentax, including the K1 Mark II, one of the best landscape cameras ever made.  I have more lenses than I really need (don’t tell Heather), and hope, over the coming months and years, to explore the many possibilities that these lenses open up for me. I’m grateful that you have taken an interest in me and my work.  I hope that you’ll join me in this exploration of my second career, and lifelong passion for photography.  Visit the site occasionally to see new content, or use the Contact page to sign up for notifications of new galleries and services. One of my fondest memories of my time at Medway is serving as Staff Advisor for the Reach for the Top team, and interacting with the many outstanding staff and students I got to know that way

I’ve loved playing sports since childhood, and have been involved to a large extent in a wide variety of them, including baseball, badminton, track and field, volleyball, basketball, cross-country running, golf, tennis and squash

I was heavily influenced by the writing and TV work of Carl Sagan, who awoke in me a love of the Cosmos, and steered me toward a life in the physical sciences

I am almost the largest fan of the band Rush in the world, and have seen them in concert 13 times – soon to be 14 in Montreal this fall; the lyrics of Neil Peart have been a blueprint for my world view

I was fortunate enough to discover the writings of J.R.R. Tolkien at a young age, and have been exploring his, and the whole host of other universes he gave birth to, ever since

This is my dog Piper, he is a good boy, he is fifteen and a half years old, and still going strong. He’s beautiful and he knows it

For the gear-heads out there here are my two DSLRs with some of my favourite lenses: Pentax K1 Mk 2 with Sigma 28mm f1.8 EX DG Macro Pentax K70 with smc Pentax-M 85mm f1.8 Pentax K1 Mk 2 with Pentax HD-D FA 70-210mm f4 ED SDM WR Pentax K70 with Pentax HD-D FA 150-450mm f4.5-5.64 ED DC AW and Pentax HD-DA 1.4x AW Tele-Converter Pentax K1 Mk 2 with Asahi Super Takumar 135mm f2.5 M42 Pentax K70 with Sigma 10-20mm f4-5.6 EX DC Pentax K1 Mk 2 with Tamron 90mm f2.8 Macro Products and Services Prints
