All 21 recorded London community gardens, plot prices, new and returning gardener registration, annual agreements and access questions.
Key information
London’s City program has 21 community gardens. The current page lists annual plot fees from $17.18 to $46.00. A plot must be assigned and registered; an empty-looking bed is not permission to plant or harvest.

Counts describe the captured inventory, not today’s available places. Several records can belong to one park. Public service pages may use newer names, different entrances or a different count. Those differences are explained where known.

How the community garden program works
Gardeners rent a plot for the season and follow the program guidelines. Growing space, water arrangements, plot sizes and management can differ. The 2026 guide limits registration to one plot per person.
The public can enjoy a park without being allowed to harvest someone else’s plot. Ask the garden contact before entering planted beds. A garden in the inventory is not evidence of an available plot or a public food-picking site.

New gardener registration and waitlists
- Choose locations
Compare the route, plot and water arrangements.
- Request a plot
Register or ask about the waitlist.
- Complete the agreement
Pay and follow the seasonal guidelines.
The City’s 2026 new-gardener registration opened March 2. Online, sign in to Play Your Way, choose Garden Plots in the facilities list and use May 1 as the search date, as the City directs. October availability may be limited; the opening date is not a promise of a plot now.
You can also ask recreation@london.ca or call 519-661-5575 with your preferred site. Give more than one suitable location if possible. Ask how the waitlist works and when you should look for the next season’s dates. The 2026 dates should not be reused as 2027 registration dates.

Returning gardeners and the annual agreement
The 2026 guide says returning registration runs from the first Wednesday of January to the last business day of January. Returning gardeners register by phone or in person. Keeping the same plot depends on following the rules and passing the final inspection.
The rental agreement must be signed within two weeks of registration. Read the full guidelines before gardening. A previous season’s plot does not become an ongoing private space or remove the need to renew.
Cost, tools, water and accessible beds
| Item | What to ask |
|---|---|
| Annual fee | Which price applies to this plot, within the listed $17.18 to $46.00 range? |
| Fee help | Can I get a subsidized plot through Customer Service? |
| Water | Where is the water point, and when is it available? |
| Tools | Do I need to bring and store my own tools? |
| Access | Is there a firm route and a bed height I can use? |
| Season end | What must be removed or cleaned, and by which date? |
Do not assume a garden has raised beds, a shed or shared tools because another garden does. If bending, carrying water or reaching a bed is difficult, describe those needs when asking about a plot.

Community garden questions
Can I take vegetables from a community garden?
Not from someone’s rented plot without permission. These are assigned growing spaces, not general pick-your-own beds.
Can I rent more than one plot?
The 2026 City guidelines allow one plot per person. Ask the City about current allocation and next season’s rules.
How do I apply for a community garden plot in London?
Use the City community garden registration instructions and Play Your Way, or ask Recreation Customer Service about your preferred site. Confirm the current season’s dates and availability. A garden in the directory does not mean it has an empty plot.
Can I reuse the 2026 garden registration date for next year?
No. The dates in this guide describe the 2026 season. Use the City’s next-season instructions when released. Do not assume the same opening day or availability for 2027.
Do returning gardeners need to register again each year?
Yes. The program has a returning-gardener registration process. Keeping a plot depends on the program rules and final inspection. Last year’s rental does not create an ongoing private space without renewal.
When must the community garden rental agreement be signed?
The 2026 guidelines require signing within two weeks of registration. Read the full agreement before starting work and keep your confirmation. Future seasons may use updated dates or instructions.
Does every community garden have shared tools or raised beds?
No uniform equipment or raised-bed provision is established for every site. Ask about the exact garden’s tools, water and bed types. Describe any difficulty with bending, carrying water or reaching the plot.
Do community gardens all have the same plot size and water arrangements?
No single arrangement is established for every garden. Plot sizes, water access and site management can differ. Ask about your selected garden before registering, especially if carrying water or maintaining a particular plot size would be difficult.
How do I choose a garden plot that meets my access needs?
Ask about the route from the entrance, bed height, ground surface and water access. Explain the tasks you need to do. A general garden listing is not a complete access assessment.
Who can help if no suitable garden plot is available?
Contact recreation@london.ca or 519-661-5575 with your preferred locations. Ask about waitlists, alternatives and the next season’s application dates. Giving more than one suitable site can help staff explain the options.
