Choose a centre or a neighbourhood satellite

A seniors’ centre offers a base for activities and social programs. A satellite brings scheduled activities to a smaller neighbourhood venue. You can choose a satellite outside your own neighbourhood; the City says membership is open to Londoners aged 55 and over.

Membership is not the same as reserving a place in every activity. Read the program details and register for sessions that require it. Check cancellations before leaving, especially when a venue shares space with a library, community centre or church.

Register, visit first and ask about fee support

Choose a first activity
  1. Find a location

Pick a centre or satellite you can reach.

  2. Compare costs

Check membership, class fees and help.

  3. Reserve a place

Register and confirm the room and time.

Use Play Your Way or call 519-661-5575 for registration and membership help. For a first visit, ask the centre about the guest pass and which activities it covers. A tour can help you find the entrance, activity room and washrooms.

The City offers income-based assistance for people who cannot cover program costs. Documentation is required. Ask about your selected membership and activity rather than assuming every outside provider or service uses the same subsidy.

Access, transport and support beyond recreation

Tell staff about any mobility, hearing, vision or support-person needs before the first session. Ask about the route from drop-off to the room, seating, breaks and the type of activity. A friendly social program is not a substitute for personal care or medical support.

The City’s senior-supports page also connects readers with Age Friendly London and Dearness Home information. For health, housing or food needs, use the relevant service guide and explain what help is needed. Recreation staff can help with their program but do not decide every other service’s eligibility.

What is a Seniors’ Satellite?

It is a neighbourhood venue with scheduled seniors’ activities rather than one of the two main seniors’ centres. London’s City program lists nine satellites. Check the actual session, room and membership type for the location.

Does a seniors’ membership reserve every class automatically?

No. Membership and activity registration are separate. Read the class details and register where required. Check cancellations before leaving, especially at venues that share space with a library, community centre or church.

How do I get help registering for a seniors’ activity?

Use Play Your Way or call 519-661-5575 for membership and registration help. Have the location and activity ready. A first-visit tour can also help you find the room, entrance and washrooms.

Can older residents ask for help paying recreation fees?

The City offers income-based recreation assistance with supporting documents. Ask whether your selected membership and activity qualify. Do not assume an outside provider uses the same subsidy or that a funding application reserves a place.

Does a seniors’ recreation program provide personal care?

Do not treat a social or recreation program as medical care or personal support. Tell staff about the help needed before registering and ask what the program can provide. Health, housing and food support use separate services.
