Plans and owner authorization
Construction plans are the common simple-information request. If the requester is not the owner, include an authorization letter with the owner’s contact information. A corporate owner must also provide articles and authorization signed by a listed director.
A building permit search letter gives the permit’s status and description. A work order letter includes active permits, violations, orders and zoning designation. These are different products: choose the document that answers the transaction or design question.

Finding a survey without using city files
A surveyor’s real-property report can show buildings, decks, pools, easements and boundaries. Such reports are not held in a public registry; contact the surveying company if a previous survey is believed to exist.
Registered subdivision and condominium plans can be purchased through OnLand/Teranet. They show lot dimensions and monuments but normally not buildings. Reference plans show parts, dimensions and interests, and may not represent buildable lots. Use a licensed Ontario Land Surveyor if a legal boundary needs confirmation.

What other letters cover
Development or subdivision agreement letters describe agreement compliance and, if requested, may include easements, sewer information, local improvements and landfill proximity. Pool-fence compliance includes a field inspection. A survey plan check assesses zoning compliance using a legible copy, preferably 11 by 17 inches or smaller.
The source has conflicting email text and links for Development Services and one mistyped building mail link. Use the visible building@london.ca address for building questions and confirm the correct development submission address with staff. Do not follow a malformed mail link.
